It seems to me that the Mecha forum would be better off in the anime section.
Why is this in the manga section?

Mecha shouldn't get it's own section because it's a sub-category of science fiction in both manga and anime. Mecha should just be dropped and any mecha manga should simply be discussed in the manga sci-fi section.
