Anybody ever watch the anime? I've watched the whole thing and I got to say it was pretty damn awesome.

You have to be into this kind of stuff to like it. Elfen Lied is very cruel. I don´t like the idea of beatiful anime girls being torn apart and cut into pieces, with heads and arms flying through the air. There are supposed to be only a few so brutal szenes, but they´re still too much for me... Should be fine for any splatter/gore-fan, though.

Sure it has. I didn´t doubt it. But to my opinion, the story doesn´t make up for the cruel parts. As I wrote above, it just isn´t my kind of movies. I´ve read the story and it sounded a bit confusing and not too well thought out. There´s an open end, too.

I liked the story and I could take all the gore and blood and child molestation(yeah they have that.)

It was kind of scary starting off, but despite all the blood and gore, it had a real romantic plot underneath it all. >>; As Shinryu said, the ending was kind of open for interpretation though. I'd recommend it, especially if you liked shows along the lines of Gantz.

I wonder why the hell Elfen Lied isn't mainstream...it seems like it should be....at least to me.

I loved Elfen Lied. The gore and the nudity didn't bother me at all, the story more than made up for it.

And when near the end, Lucy is fighting the SWAT team and you see her second horn get blown off, I audibly whimpered... I thought she'd been killed.

Yeah, and that menaceing sihouette was pretty unsettleing.

She wasn't killed...I think...because when it's about to end, someone knocks on that one dudes door and yeah I think it's Lucy who knocked.

At an anime convention I went to recently (Christchurch Armagedon), a girl was cosplaying as Nyu. A couple of people in my anime club got pictures of them hugging her. Afterward, they joked that now their kids would all be Dicloniuses (because of how they pass on their mutation).

i liked elfen lied. the whole plot was intricate unlike Gantz, although i liked it also. the whole gore thing is nothing new but little girls and women are along the lines of Claymore

Well, I own Elfen Lied. Its absolutly awsome. All the blood and gore, along with the romantic plot is what makes it so good. Though I also agree to Shinryu, that the ending was kind of open for interpretation. Which in my opinion kind of sucks for an ending. Though I too recommend it, to anyone who is interested in such a series.
