I am one of those who don't watch anime based off mangas, such as Naruto, bleach and one piece.
I'm sure there are good quality animes that was based off a manga but I never came across one.
So I thought I'd see if anyone knows any good quality animes that was based off a manga.
Naruto, bleach, one piece fails to deliver their kicks in an anime series I think, less dramatic.
Anyone have a different opinion?

I think air gear is a good anime to watch, it just cuts the series short because the creator wanted people to continue with the manga. I think it's a pretty good show, and everyone I've recommended it to enjoyed it.
Gantz is also a pretty good anime!

They weren't horrible but air gear lacked the awsome-ness that the manga had in the animes.
And Gantz also was slight in bad quality compared to the manga I think.

Hellsing was excellent as both a manga and an anime, I've heard, though I have not yet watched the show.

IMO anime destroyed Bleach and Naruto with a never ending fillers. I have yet to read Hellsing manga but the anime is definately one of my favourites.

Battle angel alita was unfortunately and disappointingly different so i must say that even manga is sometimes a drag to read its story is bigger than the anime

Unfortunately, it ain't got shit compared to the Manga. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Anime too, it's just that the Manga is that much better.

Watch Hellsing Ultimate. It follows closer to the Manga.
Also what's this 'Naruto' nonsense I hear all about?

Dragon Ball anime is the champion of filler, I guess.
Thats Bleach
It seems to go in and out of filler

I agree, with you that most manga-based anime are better in manga form. There really aren't that many that follow the manga well enough, though sometimes they can be good jumping off points to start the manga...
I can't really give a list to true-to-the-manga anime cause I haven't really found any... either the series is too short (sometimes they spend 24 episodes on the first couple volumes of manga and spend 2 episodes jumping to the end), in a completely different direction, or follow the manga well enough but have to use endless filler in order to let the manga catch up...
there are some good anime out there though, not too good if you read the manga first but good none the less, so don't be disparaged...

Yes, I've found mangas are usually alot better than the anime, only thing the animes are good for are the fight scenes. :P

While anime has awesome fighting scenes, I enjoy manga. Why? Let's see....
1. You can anga with you, as with anime the closest thing there is to carrying anime around with you is a laptop to watch online torrents with.
2. The fillers. The best examples of this are Naruto and Bleach.

I like manga because of the lack of fillers and the fact that I can read an entire series (like Bleach) in a weekend. Manga is also less censored than the anime is.
Anime does have it's strong points, too. Like the whole colored and moving thing. And, at least imo, the Hidan/Kakuzu comedy, for example, is made funnier by the fact that I can hear the "characters'" voices instead of reading them.

I like mangas as well. When a manga turns to an anime it is not always the same and like everyone said, can contain fillers. And of course when an anime is dubbed to english, it gets ever worse. But there are still some respectable animes out there I suppose

I can't recall whether Trigun started out as a manga or anime, but it's definitely an example of great writing either way- at least, in my opinion.

I Like Naruto and Bleach, But One piece is not so good.
I think, Death Note is the best manga based anime.
Just my opinion.

I don't watch anime, except for the occasional episode during boring ass uni lectures on my friend's laptop but really I can't understand why anime would ever be better than manga unless the manga was crap in the first place.
On that note I'd like to nominate Neon Genesis Evangelion. And Death Note. And possibly Initial D, Slam Dunk, and Detective Conan. I give my reasons:
Eva: manga sucked. Hard to follow plot. Hard to follow character development. Hard to follow fight scenes. Hard to follow relationship development etc. From what I've heard and recall, the anime is better even if it doesn't follow the storyline of the manga.
Death Note: I didn't finish it meaning it got boring somewhere along the way. And really, it's not all that smart. I was expecting genius smartness but instead got A+ student smartness. Dissapointment. And I think that the anime would give it more flow.
Initial D and Slam Dunk: Initial D I couldn't finish. It just wasn't flashy or fast enough to catch my attention. Car races need to be fast and cool. Anime woulda fixed this hopefully unless it's like the Bleach fights where they move in like slo-mo. Slam Dunk was old school anime off manga and therefore would have probably been better than the current ones. And besides which it's very gaggy and anime does have those cute little noises that pop up and make the atmosphere better.
Lastly Detective Conan has a slow moving plot anyways and the manga is full of fillers regardless so the anime can't be much worse off. Don't take me wrong, I love it anime and manga but it's slow. Very slow. And gets repetitive and boring near the middle/current chapters.

Dude, most anime series are based off manga's first. But I will say that some of the anime show do suck when compared with the manga form.

For animes that have been adapted from a manga series...almost certainly the manga has a better plot and somehow is alot more compelling. But certain anime's that have no manga yet do quite well.
But still..manga all the way! The art is cooler in there sometimes haha

There are times when the Anime confuses the storyline of the Manga! I wonder why?
