i think it would be interesting to have a counter that tells how many images you have uploaded.

No it wouldn't. It'll give people who upload tons a stuck-up sense. Trust me. I've seen it happen before. If memory serves me correctly, those who upload can view the gallery without those pop-up ads. I'm not sure if that's still going, but I thought that was a fair reward.
