Just because every series needs a favourite character poll. Now, my poll might be crap as I've only read to volume 8 so far, but these are the main characters I'm aware of.

Even if he died in the series, his influence in capturing Light lived on. Plus, his deductions were smile-worthy of out being outstanding.

L kept his cool as much as he can, even subconsciously. Heh, no wonder he can push Light into a corner so easily from time to time when deducing things that involves lil' Yagami.

Light... maybe because my friend and I bother each other about it all the time. He's intelligent beyond belief. If L weren't as antisocial and quirky, I'd vote L. If Light were any less sadistic, narcissitc, and creepy, I wouldn't be so hesitant to put my vote with him

I prefere Light, I love how he is able to manipulate people and how he show to everyone only his " mask ", hiding costantly is true face...

I like L, simply because I can relate to him in many ways. It got pretty boring when Near and Mello showed up though, at least for me. I mean, they came too late in the series and also because what they did to L was too early and it kind of just happened out of nowhere.

I chose L because he's constantly on par with Light throughout the story, I'm not sure how the Manga/Anime ended exactly cause I watched the movies but though Light clearly had the upper hand L brought him down. I'm sad that he and his butler had to die...

I almost voted for Ryuk cause my schoolmate had the hugest (and most awkward) crush on him, it makes me laugh about it now!

Light. It may sound bad but i wanted him to win in the end. He may have been an evil sick twisted person in the end but thats why i kept watching!

Plus he started getting crazier after L's death. I still think they should have stopped the show after that. If they would have kira's death wouldn't have been so pathetic.

Near was actually awesome...he was as smart as L, yet he was only around half the guy's friggin' age....but, L's the origonal badass detective, so he's got my vote.

Easily my favorite was L... I think alot of the other characters were really well done but not quite as good as him. My second favorite would either be Light or Ryuk... Ryuk just cause he is awesome and Light because of how clever he is... he could turn around almost any situation to his favor and he really died mostly because of his lacky's mistake not one of his own.
