A very good manga, the author is a genius, to write a plot like this he has to be a genius!!
But I don't like the end, I would like something else, maybe an intervention by Ryu ( the shinigami )...also because I hate "N" and his arrogance...

Fail.
It's like...if emo genre had an anime, Death Note is what it would be. All of the characters are stupid (And unlikable), and of course it has the stereotypical dumb blonde mary sue. Fucking lame, with no originality. All is said. I am done speaking now.

It failed to keep my interest... it seemed to dark to get along with. L was likable, but I get into the damn series the episode before he died... also I could barely follow the plot, but again, I got into it many episodes in...

The first half was amazing but once L was gone the whole thing went to crap. Didn't like Near or Mello at all.

Who says you have to like the characters in a book? I thought the plot and logic twisting was amazing, all the reasoning and planning was so well thought out I couldn't care less for the characters.
I can see where you're getting the emo from, Light definitely becomes a spoiled emo kid in certain regards, but it's hardly a woe-is-me kind of story (as far as I've read). It's a mind-games series, nothing more, nothing less.

You're reading the manga, she's talking about the anime. A few things are always changed, be better or worse, when a manga is made into anime.
They kinda fucked up Death Note big time, I think. Yet to watch the anime but I've seen a few screenshots and gifs. It's enough to tell there's too much drama and the other stuff kids these days like added.

How can you have a opinion on what you have not seen ?

I hear things. Like say I know that the scene where L dies is over-dramatized. I have also seen tons of gifs, and other screenshots, where most of what I've said is shown.
Of course, that is in no way a proper way to judge it, but as stated, that should be enough to tell that there is too much drama to be healthy.
Hurr L dies let's put in some of those fag moments between L and Light so these faggots can cry themselves to sleep tonight.
I've talked to a few hardcore Death note fans, they love that flashback scene.

My opinion of Death Note is that it's faaaar too boring to watch as an anime, reading it is a whole other story. It all takes place in their thoughts and reactions, which you lose if you're trying to make it action oriented.
So I recommend a read and to avoid watching it.

I personally have only seen the most of the anime. I also think they did seem to over dramatize a few things but the animation style and almost everything else was top notch.

Wonderful. Another opportunity to spread my opinion about Death Note (at least to annoy other people).
Definitely the profoundest anime there is - cause it reached depths in my soul no other media-hyped work of art has ever touched before. I'm not talking about love (guess everybody who watched the anime or read the manga came to that point), cause the opus is missing it, like it is missing every other positive remark on human nature.
After the first episode I got the impression that I didn't want to watch more of that shit. After a week or so my girlfriend kinda forced me, though - and time we reached episode 4 I was fascinated, almost fanatic. I'm no MangaManiac, no Otaku (don't get me wrong there) and it's the same for anime, computergames, books and such. I don't dress up like Harry Potter or Gandalf, I`m not even buying posters. If I`m interested in something I just start thinking about it a lot.
And Death Note really copped me. Time I found out that the last ten episodes were missing I almost collapsed. Had to wait for a week or so to watch it and couldn't think about anything else than Death Note.
You see, at first it appeared like an idiotic and emoistic piece of crap, cause Yagami appears like an idiotic emo and you don't really accept his point of view. But then he stuns you with his intelligence, doing (almost) everything right, while normal villains (or heroes) would have stepped into tons of traps. His attitude sure sucks, but he is absolutely right. His fanatism thrilled me, cause he tried to make a change and succeeded. Time L was closing in I myself felt haunted, always thinking about possible moves Kira could make to turn the situation. And Light made the same deliberations - again absolutely stun-o-matic.
Sure he was arrogant and later corrupted by power, but he was...interesting. I wanted him to win, at least in fiction, cause I wanted to risk a blink on his utopia (maybe a dystopia).
I don't want to spoil, so just a few words about the end: After the last episode I wasn't able to think, talk or dream about anything else for at least two weeks.
Yagami Light left me to a identity crysis, defiant of our distinctions. Can't say that about many animes.
As to the direction (cuttings, so on): Brilliant.

Death Note was one of the most involved series I've watched, I kind of wish it had more to it, and I was kind of hoping that somehow they could have written in an ending where Light actually won. I ended up watching it all in Japanese with subtitles on various media sharing sites a couple week before it came out in the US on Cartoon Network. So I felt pretty amazing beating the crowd. :D It was kind of depressing when L died though... Near and Mello taking over really kind of pissed me off, they weren't anything compared to L.

I haven't read the manga, though I would be interested if I got my hands on it. However, the anime series was really well done... although, I was really disappointed with the ending. I ended up really getting attached to a select few characters and I'm sorry to say I really wanted "evil" to come out on top in this one. Morality aside, it wasn't the ending that I wanted. Still good nonetheless.

I can't tell if this is fanmade or some sort of mini story based off of Death Note, but I thought it's worth sharing, at least.
