View Full Version : Comment Character Limit Counting

When posting a comment for an image on the site, I was told that comments cannot be longer than 1024 characters. When actually doing a character count for my post (in OpenOffice.org, irrelevant), it's only 989 characters long.

Maybe using a more reliable character counting method would help improve this portion of the site, because as far as I can figure, 989 < 1024. After estimation, it seems more like the limit is around 700-800.

I hope this helps, as it's a bit irksome to re-edit posts down to monosyllabic AOL-speak, as it generally makes the post seem less intelligent.

wtf?
Why would anyone need more than 900 characters to comment a porn picture?
Unless theyre doing one of those stories to go along with the picture, which I find to be strange.
But seriously, what is it that you have to say that needs 1000+ characters?

Oh, sorry...
Muis blatant disregard for my comment reminded me that it offered no help at all..

No really. A lot of the time, people simply don't count the spaces.

Hmm
That would make sense
And If it turned out to be true I'd drop a demotivational poster

I don't understand why he has to write so many words for one picture. He can just minimize the number of words typed. Or make a second post afterwards.

Sometime you just have to speak your mind.
